Donkervoort Reveals the 2017 D8 GTO-RS Special Edition

Actually, Donkervoort isn’t considered to be a large-scale automaker; the one and only lineup consists of the D8 GTO. However, a little can go a long way. The Dutch manufacturer of high performance sports cars has revealed an ultra lightweight version of its extremely performance five cylinder roadster, the 400-hp D8 GTO-RS. The Special Edition model will be definitely exclusive as only 40 units are planned to be built. What about a new Nürburgring lap record?

As for the exterior design, the 2017 GTO-RS Special Edition pays tribute to the iconic Caterham Seven with its retro design mated to modern aerodynamics. Powered by a tuned Audi’s 2.5-liter five cylinder R5 TFSI engine, the GTO-RS is announced to feature 354 pound-feet of torque. It is also known that there are two special edition offshoots, namely the D8 GTO-RS Bare Naked Carbon Edition (limited to strictly 15 vehicles) and GTO-RS Race Edition (limited to 10 units only). The perfect combination of a tweaked engine and upgraded aerodynamics seems to enough to deliver extremely power to the model, along with traction control, tweaked suspension, and double clutch transmission.
